Any good E61 games out there?
It is ‘very’ difficult finding good games for the E61 at the best of times so here’s a quick run down of some decent JAVA efforts-
Mobile Grand Prix 2 is surprisingly good fun to play and takes a decent amount of skill to get anywhere. “MGP 2 is a Formula 1 simulator with an advanced physical model, fully customisable vehicles and packed with all official Formula 1 racing tracks. Choose one of the six teams to race with and win all of the races in order to win the championship.
game, mobile, Formula 1,race, speed, championship
Setting slipstream indicator on will show you the optimal path for gaining more speed. Make a pit stop when the formula damage indicator shows severe damage or the tires need to be replaced. When in pit stop follow the number sequence to make your team successfully finish the repairs.”
Black Hawk Down- Team Sabre should be excellent and the first level is indeed great. Shame I can’t work out how to go to level 2 once level 1 is completed?
Based on the popular NovaLogic franchise and sim-shipping with the PS2 release
Team Sabre is a 2D tactical action game represented in a top down view
Player will lead the elite Delta Force® unit on 10 missions through treacherous South American jungles and across remote deserts in the Persian Gulf
Levels alternate between helicopter combat and ground combat and present 20 total action sequences
In ground combat, the player controls individual team members, strategically using their strengths to move across the level.
Granodus Elemental Invasion is pretty big for a JAVA game but it is quite slow to navigate. It does look as though it will get better the more I play it though.
You are the wise magician Granodus. The evil Xantomuphus stole your mighty magic staff, leaving you only a small wand. Your powers are in the magic staff, so you have to get it back as soon as possible.
Xantomuphus filled the area with five types of elementals: iron, fire , earth, wind, water. You have to eliminate all elementals and find the five scrolls of elements to find the evil wizard.
There is an unlimited amount of charges for every element in your wand, so this shouldn’t be a problem…
Controls: D-pad (2,4,6,
to move. Click (5) to fire.
I will try to find some more that are worth playing but there is a LOT of rubbish out there! If you have recommendations for any good games let us know…
I still play SkyForce, SF Reloaded and Super Miners a lot. Especially SM gets really hard after lvl60. Also, a buddy of mine create Astronauts, pretty cool game to.

Try 4Elements RTS game, it could entertain you, if you like strategy games.

Quite frankly, Java games on a symbian device don’t quite work. They take ages to launch, force all the other running applications to close down and are almost always really sluggish. I tried quite a few java games on my E61 and the only one that stayed on my phone more than 10 seconds was Mini-Golf Castles (http://www.digitalchocolate.com/products/castlemini/). It looks very nice, is responsive enough and more importantly, is simple and fun to play. Unfortunately, you’ll probably finish it in an hour or so after which there isn’t much to do with this game anymore.
Prior to me switching to smartphones, i had tried quite a lot of Java games on my dumbphone and the only 2 that i considered worth playing were Ancient Empires and Ancient Empires II (i actually liked the first one better. Maybe because the second one didn’t bring anything really new so i got bored). I don’t know if there are versions compatible with the E61, i’ve tried one but it looked very bad on my E61 (the graphics were far too big and blocky and it was quite slow). When played on a compatible phones, these games really rock. They’re simple to play at first allowing you to quickly get into it and there is actually quite a lot of strategy to develop once you progress into the game. But it always remains fun and you can spend hours playing them without getting bored (you can of course save your progress).
Apart from Java games, MasterGear, a Sega Master System and Game Gear emulator works very well and is probably the way to go for games on the E61. There’s vNes and vSun for Nintendo consoles as well but their trial versions only let you play for 1 minute or so, so it’s impossible to see if the games actually work or are playable since you often don’t even have time to get passed the introduction screens before the trial stops (really, really silly, this kind of non-sense limitations really gets me).

I think that the Darkest Fear (2 and 3) are great games. Some puzzle, some horror, some adventure like. Highly recommended!
