According to Symbian Freak Nokia have released a new firmware update for the E61. The list of improvements is very long and some do stand out-
- Audio quality improvements
- RAM consumption reduced (JAVA)
- Recurring events improvements
- Performance and reliability improvements
Unfortunately not available in Sweden yet. Perhaps it will be released during next week.

Its only a matter of time until Nokia releases this update on their Software update page: http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,1522,,00.html?orig=/softwareupdate

Its been out in Denmark for a few days.
I have not noticed any significant improvements, but then I did not have any serious problems.
Memory management is possibly better, but the use of numeric shortcuts in browsers ow require that you press and hold the blue arrow before you press the number, a bit annoying.
Calcium has the same issue.

do backup everything on your E61 before the firmware upgrade, as youwill lose all info on your phone.use the PC Suite, then restore after Firmware upgrade. those who got the Firmware Update,do keep us posted if unsigned apps/games/themes still work after the update.thanks!

Yes, it seems there is a Software Update for E61 but if you connect the phone and validate it, the Nokia Software Updater says “Searching for Updates…” and then “No software updates available for your phone”. I have (checked with *#0000#) SW version 1.0610.04.04 - RM-89. Suggestions?

Has anybody had problems with the sound from the music player after installing the new firmware? I now have this weird bug: when a new song starts, the bass is all gone. It only comes back if I turn the volume up/down. Ideas?

I did update firmware. Works fine. I used the Nokia Software Updater. First take backup of the phone using PC Suite - Content Copier. Then start the updater. It will connect to and first download the software. After downloading the Firmware, the updater software automatically updates the software into the phone
The phone shuts down and then starts in an internal test mode. Post this the phone starts and you will be asked to do the initial setup such as time zone selection etc.
So far I have not found any phone hanging etc. Internal Music player is better, it now has an option to create a music library and when we start for the first time, it does an automatic updation.
I found the internal browser too be better too than what it used to be earlier.
